Agricultural Engineering in Support of the Kyoto Protocol The Clean Development Mechanism for Biogas Technology Yapp, J. (2006)

This paper discusses the main findings of research conducted by Caleb on the potential of CDM for the commercialisation of the small- to large- scale Integrated Biogas System (IBS). IBS utilises a system approach for the efficient management and conversion of agro-industrial waste into clean biogas and organic fertiliser. The methane captured could either be used for electricity generation in large/medium commercial enterprise or used for cooking, lighting and heating hot water in small scale community. APCAEM conducts the study of the potential for application of the CDM facility from large scale industrial biogas plants to small household type digesters and summarise the technical, policy and institutional issues involved in the application of CDM in Asian and Pacific region.
