Water Crisis Clock Webinar 20.03.2025 • 15:00 - 16:15 (CET)

Join World Data Lab (WDL) and GIZ for the launch of the Water Crisis Clock (WCC), a groundbreaking tool designed to highlight the urgency of global water scarcity.

Objectives

A quarter of the world’s population lacks sufficient access to clean drinking water. Beyond this known challenge, critical issues including water stress, ambient water quality, and water-related ecosystem health remain dangerously under-addressed.

Introducing the Water Crisis Clock: To address this information gap, the World Data Lab, in partnership with GIZ, has developed an interactive website that

  • Visualises past trends and future developments in water scarcity, biodiversity and water surface area change at a global level
  • Offers detailed country level insights on the regional dynamics of water scarcity and ecosystem pressures
  • Showcases projects of German development cooperation as case studies on how to address these issues

Agenda | Program

This session will feature expert insights from WDL, GIZ, and IIASA, showcasing how the WCC supports evidence-based decision-making to accelerate progress toward UN Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation.

Aligned with World Water Day 2025, this event emphasizes the power of data visualization to drive awareness and action, ensuring that water resources are protected for future generations.
